WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE?
Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into any connective tissue restrictions such as scars, injuries, inflammation, and trauma to eliminate pain, increase energy flow, and restore motion.
Each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by fascia (a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption). This web surrounds every muscle fiber, muscle, bone, organ, spinal cord, and the cranium. It holds us together, protects us, and is in effect, a consciousness-light communication network.
Malfunction of the fascial system due to trauma, posture, whiplash, surgery, or inflammation can create a binding down of the fascia resulting in abnormal pressure on nerves, muscles, organs, and bones.
WHAT IS CRANIAL SACRAL?
Cranial Sacral is a form of bodywork using gentle touch to relieve compression throughout the body, help balance the spinal fluids and re-regulate the nervous system. It releases energy blockages and restrictions that may be obstacles in the body-mind healing.
For the last 23 years, Lauren has been in private and clinical practice as a medical massage therapist, specializing in a combination of Advanced Myofascial Release (John Barnes); deep tissue massage and Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy for the treatment of chronic and acute pain as well as the emotional patterns held within the body. She has worked in conjunction with psychotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and neurologists. As well as working with pain, her work is supportive and helpful for individuals undergoing life transitions and optimizes a sense of 'embodiment' and wellbeing.
Lauren’s work is both deep and penetrating, yet gentle, subtle and profound when needed. She brings a listening presence that is thorough and intuition that stems from her years of experience working with many different clients, with diverse need .
Lauren is motivated and committed to provide effective, quality hands-on therapy.
Starting her career as an art major, with a degree in education and art therapy, Lauren was drawn towards the body-mind connection through hands-on therapy when she discovered the creative potential within the body’s wisdom. The art and science of accessing this healing force in the mind/body matrix, to profoundly help and transform, continues to inspire and motivate her. After graduating in 1996, from The Mpls. School of Massage (Escalen massage), Lauren immersed herself in intensive coursework with the masters in the field. She studied extensively with John Barnes, P.T., in Sedona and Hugh Milne, D.O., author of The Heart of Listening.
Lauren completed Cranial Sacral trainings facilitated by Wes Vaught (Radical Self Acceptance) and assisted Wes in four one-year-long sets of trainings for others over a period of 10 years. She most recently completed her certification in Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy with Robyn Jones and is also a certified Wellness Counselor from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
